The STORY

Welcome to all things Red Spade Records.

I love records. All records. And I want to make your records. I listen to them all in real time as I cut them, and hand label and hand etch them as well. I love your records, almost as much as you will.

Thanks for coming by, drop me a line!

Red Spade Records is a company borne from its creator’s passion for music. Robyn Raymond, the visionary entrepreneur behind the brand, has had a thirty-year career in the music business—everything from production management, performance and touring, to mastering and lathe-cutting vinyl records. Raymond’s keen interest and ear for music began early in life and in her twenties, she was touring across Canada as the lead singer of rock band 40 Gun Flagship. She transitioned into an artist support role with The Union Ltd., production managing, promoting and touring with various superstar acts including Motley Crue and Sam Smith. After a brief exit from the music industry to work with the Canadian Bobsled, Hockey and Skeleton teams, Raymond returned to the industry. Rather than going back on the road, she shifted her interest to vinyl records and the complex and nuanced art of lathe cutting. She holds the distinction of being one of the only independent female record cutters, currently working in the entire nation of Canada. As a lathe cutter, a specialized role in the process of vinyl record manufacturing, Raymond has worked on projects with everyone from respected labels like Dine Alone Records to Italian luxury fashion brand Prada. A believer in bringing more women into technical fields in the music industry, Raymond takes every opportunity to speak at industry events and co-hosts the Women in Vinyl Podcast. In 2023, she launched the label segment of the business, to expand the business’ offerings to artists and acts of all sizes.
